7th World Conference on Research Integrity

Cape Town, South Africa
29 May – 1 June 2022

Registration is now open!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 7th World Conference on Research Integrity will now take place using a hybrid model.

Although many countries are successfully rolling out vaccination programmes, there are still ongoing waves of infections across many places in the world. To mitigate the inability to attend in person due to travel restrictions or other factors relating to the pandemic, we have introduced a virtual stream to the conference. You can now choose whether to attend in person, or to join via livestreaming.

Our conference software makes it possible to view and attend live sessions, view recordings of sessions you have missed, interact in live Q&A sessions, download documents and conference materials, and visit the poster sessions and the exhibition hall virtually. You can take part in online discussion groups and connect with other particpants for a fully interactive and engaging experience.

We look forward to seeing you at WCRI 2022 – whether face to face or online!

Data Protection

We will respect your privacy and handle your data with due care and confidentiality. For more details see our Privacy Statement.

We aim for and monitor diversity and therefore kindly ask you to also complete the items on gender, cultural/ethnic background, stakeholder category, career stage, and for researchers also disciplinary field, type of research and academic rank. This feedback will be extracted and analysed without any reference to personal identifiers.

In the online registration form we specifically and separately ask your consent to forward your name, affiliation and e-mail address to session moderators, to other participants of the conference (the participants list will not be published publicly), and to organizers of non-WCRI events considered relevant by WCRIF board.

Furthermore we ask your consent to use your anonymized data for research on the WCRIs that is approved by the WCRIF board. Two proposals have been accepted so far: a study on the diversity participants and presenters and a study on registration or publication of the study protocols for empirical research that is presented.

Financial Arrangements

The 7th WCRI is a non-profit making conference. It is expected that around 50% of the income comes from registration fees, and 50% from sponsorship received from organizations that have a demonstrated interest in promoting integrity in research and whose values are consistent with the values of the World Conferences on Research Integrity.

The income received will be used to finance the necessary expenditures of the conference, and to provide travel grants to support selected participants from eligible low and middle income countries. As the 7th WCRI organizers received a starting budget of € 50,000 from the 6th WCRI the same amount, if feasible, will be forwarded to the 8th WCRI organizers. Based on the agreement between the World Conference on Research Integrity Foundation (WCRIF) and the University of Cape Town (UCT), 50% of the additional positive financial surplus, if any, will be transferred to the WCRIF to finance future conferences and other related activities. The remaining 50% will remain at UCT to support research integrity related activities within the university and the nearby region.
